PRINCESS PROJECTRA (Wilimena Morgana Daergina Annaxandra Projectra Velorya Vauxhall, aka “Jeckie”, Sensor Girl)

SENSOR GIRL (Wilimena Morgana Daergina Annaxandra Projectra Velorya Vauxhall, aka “Jeckie”, Princess Projectra)

Silver Age Princess Projectra:
-Princess Projectra has one of the sillier non-Lad/Lass Legionnaire names, and hails from the medieval-style planet Orando, giving us a neat outlook on what looks more like a “Fantasy” realm than the futuristic 30th Century. Joining and the same time as Karate Kid & Nemesis Kid, she fell in love with the former, eventually leaving to rule Orando with him by her side, after defeating her cousin Pharoxx in a civil war. In a GREAT sequence of events, Karate Kid bravely dies in a sacrifice after being beaten nearly to death by Nemesis Kid, leading to Projectra daring him to “Look me in the EYES” as she stalks him for revenge. Nemesis Kid’s powers let him perfectly counter anyone else’s… so she doesn’t use any. She just walks up to him and snaps his neck. The Legion are stunned, but she’s like “F*ck your rules; I’M in charge here, and if this boots me off the Legion, so be it.” GREAT bit of business, that. “Do any of you DARE call me wrong?”

-Projectra thus leaves the Legion for years, returning in disguise as “Sensor Girl” (only Saturn Girl knew her secret), showcasing some new applications of her powers to keep her identity secret- many teammates suggested that she could have been a resurrected or cloned Supergirl (who had recently died in the Crisis). The Emerald Empress later unmasked her, but most people outside the Legion did not realize she was the same person as Projectra. In this form, Sensor Girl even led the Legion for a time. She would later lose her Sensor Girl boosts, and meet her “SW6” clone, which was later killed in battle.

-I find her interesting mainly because her personality of “imperious spoiled brat” is always an entertaining thing if thrown into a team of Captain Serious types or happy-go-lucky teen heroes. Plus, she’s got the bonus of living on a swords & sorcery-type planet, which makes for lots of interesting situations, as she’s no tech-genius, and a bit more supersticious than her friends.

Threeboot-Era Jeckie:
-In the Reboot, a character named “Sensor” replaces Jeckie, but “Threeboot” brings her back. Here, she is the spoiled brat of the team, being the daughter of Orando’s royals. She becomes cold, detached and selfish when Orando is destroyed, leaving her with none of her old privileges, but the tragedy unlocks her birthright- her trademark powers. Eventually, however, she grows even darker in outlook, blaming the Legion and United Planets for Orando’s destruction, and attacking various Legionnaires. Phantom Girl is beaten nearly to death, Saturn Girl is mind-wiped, and Projectra gains even more powers.

-The “Re-Rebooted” Projectra returns to continuity after Infinite Crisis, called Sensor Girl still.

SENSOR (Jeka Wynzorr)

Reboot-Era Sensor:
-In the post-Zero Hour “hey, crazy idea: let’s have some non-humanoids!” period (and why not? The GL Corps have had non-humanoids for decades, and the LOSH was in the even WEIRDER future, yet everyone was blue or purple Star Trek-style aliens), she got turned into a snake with the same powers. This was REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAALLLLY controversial with fans of the hot platinum blonde chick. She wore a pair of cybernetic arms, and renounced her heritage as Princess of Orando to travel the stars. A bolt of “Hypertaxis” energy blasted her, and Ra’s al Ghul transformed her into a humanoid anthro/snake thing. She remained in this form until the continuity rebooted itself.
