KID QUANTUM I (James Cullen, used to be a bunch of Proteans)
-Kid Quantum I was introduced as a “Retcon” to establish why the Legion had a rule against technological powers- he was killed when his powers malfunctioned. However, it turned out that he was a mass of Proteans masquerading as a human being, back when the Legion writers were just throwing EVERYTHING out there.
-However, a fully-human Kid Quantum was one of the token “new” members of the Legion’s “Reboot” Era, created to die on one of his first missions, replacing Ferro Lad as the “token casualty”. Unfortunately, he died in a way even Thunderbird would’ve been ashamed to be “Sacrificial Buddy” for, as he gets his neck snapped by a giant bug because his back was turned while he was gloating to his teammates. Because his powers were given by technology, and shorted out in mid-battle, he led to the further rule that no Legionnaire could ever have powers solely dependent upon technology. Someone get Amon’s Equalists on these bigoted bastards!!
-Kid Quantum’s biggest legacy, of course, is his sister, who would become the popular “Reboot” hero Kid Quantum II.

KID QUANTUM II (Jazmin Cullen)
-The next Kid Quantum, the first’s angry sister, pulled off membership a little bit better, ending up becoming a pseudo-icon of that version of the Legion (since she was one of the most popular Reboot types). Jazmin Cullen underwent surgery to gain the Quantum powers innately, then joined the team. Despite her initial hostility towards them, she proved herself and became a resolute member, even being elected leader thanks to Cosmic Boy recommending her. She entered into a relationship with Cos as well. Of course, she’s pretty much unknown to much history since her continuity only lasted 10 years, in one single book. Kind of a shame.

WAVE (Sussa Pakka, aka Spider-Girl)
-Wave is the definition of a minor Legionnaire, starting out as a token rejected applicant (based off of a fan recommendation for “Prehensile Hair”), who ended up getting so mad, she joined the Legion of Super-Villains. After years of doing little, and she all of a sudden decides to hook up with the Legion again, hitting on Ultra Boy and others, before proving her worth a bit. But this was RIGHT near the end of the book’s Post-Crisis period, and she was written out by time fluctuations right away. By then, she’d lost the “Spider-Girl” name (given because of her “web” of hair), becoming “Wave”, and getting the cool visual of giant blue hair flying around every panel she was in, but it was too little, too late.
-She appears in Reboot as a member of Workforce, and was in a relationship with Ultra Boy, making her very resentful of Apparition, his ex. Geoff Johns used her as part of his “Justice League of Earth” Legion story-arc, as a Legion Reject who now fights the team alongside Earth-Man.

KINETIX (Zoe Saugin)
-Kinetix, sporting the most ’90s-style name in LOSH HISTORY, is an odd little part of Legion history, though she’s become rather iconic to the Post-Zero Hour “Reboot” team. See, adding completely original members to a Legion reboot is a GREAT idea, as it shakes up the dynamic, and makes for some new types of situations. But in doing so, her creators just threw together a Jean Grey rip-off (“Redhead Telekinetic in a Green Costume”) and made her kind of bubbly and annoying (and had her hair fly around of it’s own accord- which is turning out to be a repeated trope in the DCU- Kinetix, Wave, Cyclone…), and then de-powered her, then made her an obsessive weirdo, then changed her form, then got rid of her.
-Zoe started lusting for power when she saved her own mother’s life, and spent years exploring ways to get it. She found an energy pool that gave her Telekinesis, called herself “Kinetix”, and joined the Legion’s second set of draftees. She became best friends with Shrinking Violet, but got de-powered, THEN she got this weird story of being obsessed with gaining new powers, then gained MAGICAL might. Then she got depowered again, and turned into some giant brown chick whose job was to help speed up the evolutionary process of Earth. This was all very dumb and pointless, as it was obvious that the writers just didn’t give a crap about the character all that much, and she never got a “Threeboot” version, thus becoming mostly lost to history, as Shikari, Gates & XS were far more popular “Reboot” Legionnaires. However, in Legion of Three Worlds, she gathered the energies of a dying world to gain supreme power (her long-held dream), but Superboy-Prime just happened to be IMMUNE to Magic now, and so he incinerated her. Which is a pretty ignominious end. They were practically just saying “Yeah, this character SUCKED”.
