It has been A WHILE since Pop-Tarts released a new flavor, but don’t worry: every time I go to a store, I scour the shelves to make sure I haven’t missed any. They have just been resting on their laurels flavors-wise while they prepare more fun antics for the Pop-Tarts Bowl Game every January.
Which, incidentally, is a fine usage of their time. I love those crazy Pop-Tarts mascots and their zany activities, so if that is what Pop-Tarts is spending their time on, it’s A+ level work.
STILL! It HAS put the PTQ on a hold while we wait for new flavors to trickle down the pike. but thankfully, one has emerged!

I was admittedly very skeptical at first. These were just essentially going to be Blueberry Pop-Tarts with yellow colored sprinkles on top, right? Look at the picture! What’s so Lemon and Crumble about these bad boys?
Well I will tell you what: they somehow snuck a hint of lemon flavor into these Pop-Tarts. I don’t know how they did it, those bastard geniuses, but they did! It’s not overpowering, but it IS there. Or I’m imagining it, which is also possible, but THAT means they have created some sort of madman lemon placebo effect, and that’s just as impressive, right?
As for the Crumble part, the shell is not exactly your typical Pop-Tarts crust. It has a slightly different consistency. I am not sure it has the flavor and texture of a crumble pastry, but I appreciate the effort.
And can we talk about the smell?! These are delightfully overpowering Pop-Tarts, and their odor lingers about long after the eating is done. It’s like I bought a two-in-one Pop-Tart and candle! Amazing!
I ate them hours ago at this point, and I CAN STILL SMELL THEM. I just scooped the cat litter, but all I smell are Lemon Blueberry Crumble Pop-Tarts. It’s fascinating stuff.
TASTE: These are a solid mid-level Tart, and honestly? One of the better fruit-flavored Pop-Tarts. I usually prefer the chocolate Tarts–and I still do here–but these are definitely worth a purchase now and again. B
LEMON: Sneaky! But it’s there! As someone who just straight up eats lemons (they are delicious), I’m never going to say there is TOO MUCH lemon in anything, so I could have used more. Even if it’s just in my imagination. C+
BLUEBERRY: The star of the show, obviously. There’s lots of blueberry flavor here, I guess. Can we talk about Blueberries for a second? Is there any berry that is as hard to nail down as the blue variety? A GOOD blueberry is easily the best berry you can buy. But they overripen in a hurry, and an overripe blueberry is abjectly disappointing. So for this Pop-Tart: B-. For blueberries in general: A-. But try harder, berries.
CRUMBLE: Man, they aren’t kidding. Every package I have opened so far has been broken inside. Dare I say they have been crumbled. B+
OVERALL: A solid if unspectacular Tart that is a welcome addition to the line-up. It has a delightful color scheme with the purple and yellow icing/sprinkles combination. Reminds me of that Purplesaurus Rex Kool-Aid. Now I want THAT. B-

Yes! PTQ is back!
