Pop-Tarts is back on the Girl Scouts track this week, as we review Frosted Coconut Caramel!

I am not sure that these are a Girl Scouts cookie that I have ever indulged in, but I’ve always been a pretty strictly Thin Mints kind of guy. That said, aren’t Tagalongs a Girl Scouts cookie? With the peanut butter on the inside? Pop-Tarts could totally have made that a flavor instead of these ones, and I would be okay with that.

Mostly I just want a return of Peanut Butter flavored Pop-Tarts because those were THE BEST.

As I struggled (and Googled) just now to find out what the Tagalongs were actually called, it dawns on me that I am frightfully uneducated on Girl Scouts cookies. Have I let my preference for mint and chocolate blind me all of these years? Do I even bother looking over the list when it is provided to me? Or do I slavishly just paw at the words “thin mints” until I get what I require?

Coconut Caramel?

Are these really a Girl Scouts cookie?

I’ve never heard of them.

Why don’t they have a rad name like “Tagalongs”? You could call these… “Followbehinds”.

Okay, I’m pretty awful at naming things; that’s on me.

But still! “Coconut Caramel”. That’s boring.

You know what else is boring?

These Pop-Tarts!

The coconut is barely there! I’m reminded of how little the thin mints Tarts offered us in the way of mint. This isn’t Coconut Caramel. It’s Caramel, with a guest appearance by some Coconut. It’s the IDEA of coconut. These were made near a coconut once.

And what are we left with?

YET ANOTHER Caramel flavored Pop-Tart!

We’ve done this! Multiple times! What are we even doing here?

TASTE: B

These are no Chocolatey Salted Caramel Pop-Tarts, that is for certain.

COCONUT: D+

Have there ever been truly Coconut inspired Pop-Tarts? I have never seen them, and these sure ain’t it.

PACKAGING: A-

There are a lot of colors here, with the green “NEW!” bar and the purple flavor box. And the picture of that, admittedly, ugly bitten-into cookie. It’s grabby! It reaches out from the shelf and demands your attention. I like it! Marketing 101!

OVERALL: C-

The thin mints underdelivered on the Mint, but the Tarts were still pretty solid as a chocolatey delight. These are just a lesser Caramel flavored Tart that someone wafted some coconut water vapor over.
