Okay, we are through #50-31, and it’s time to keep going with this countdown! It’s the middle of the list, and it’s here that we move out of “Very Good” (my 3.25 – 3.5 star territory) and into the start of the “Great” (3.75 – 4.00 star) 2023 movies. I’ll let you know which movie signifies that change, don’t worry. And if you’ve missed the … Continue reading The Top 50 Movies Of 2023: #30-21

Let’s get right into it! (Unless you want to relive where this list started with #50-41, then click HERE) 40. SCREAMBOX Exclusive Santastein comes alive on December 19. The festive twist on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein delivers Christmas cheer and slasher fear in equal measure. You know a trope I have always hated because it makes zero sense? The Christmas movie where all of the parents and adults think Santa does not exist, but it turns out he does. You have every adult in the world … Continue reading SantaStein Review
Merry Christmas, everyone! Let’s talk about a murdered child and how it leads to a blood-soaked rampage. Seventy-seven year old John Woo is back in American theaters! It feels like it’s been forever since I have thought of the master of doves, but he presents the new Christmas-themed action movie, Silent Night. It’s his first movie in over 6 years, with his last being 2017’s … Continue reading Silent Night Review

Ever since I absolutely fell in love with RRR earlier this year, I’ve been on a quest to ingest more Bollywood and Tollywood to see if it is a genre I can really get into, or if RRR was a one-off cultural phenomenon that the rest of what I watch from the world of Indian cinema won’t measure up to. I mean, RRR went right … Continue reading Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Review
John Wick changed everything. When Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves came together in the mid-2010’s to film the slick revenge-action flick John Wick, do you think they had even an inkling of an idea what they were about to accomplish? A hit? Sure, maybe they banked on that. They had between twenty and thirty million dollars to throw at a bankable, if scattershot in his … Continue reading Ballerina Review

NOTE: Big spoilers within for Thanksgiving. Like “who the killer is” level spoilers! It’s midway through November, and I’ve accomplished my January goal: I’ve seen 100 movies that came out this year. I’d say it was hard, but… I did it with a month and a half to spare, so I guess it wasn’t that bad at all. It was less hard and more… trying, … Continue reading Thanksgiving Review

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has a very long title. It’s almost as long as the movie’s runtime, but… we’ll get to that in a bit. The newest Hunger Games movie is a prequel to the last four, all starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, and takes place about 65 years before Katniss’ adventure ever starts. If you’ve seen those movies … Continue reading THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES REVIEW
