That’s it! You’re either going to run screaming or listen out of morbid curiousity!

Hey, my movie diary screenshot fits in one image for the first half of this month! I hit my 200th movie for the year, and suddenly watching movies started feeling just a LITTLE BIT less imperative. I have found my laurels; I have rested on them. The weird thing is… I haven’t done much else this month, either, so this is going to be a … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: December 2021
“Avenge me KIMBA– I mean SIMBA.” THE LION KING (1994) Written by: Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts & Linda Woolverton So with the Disney Renaissance still going strong, they released a risky little picture about lions that was only INSPIRED by other stories rather than basically taking the whole thing and Disney-fying it. However, it was THIS film that turned out to be the uber-smash of the … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: The Lion King (animated)
After seeing how close I had come by October, I knew that I’d definitely get 200 movies in by the end of 2021 unless something truly went awry. So then came the next thought… could I do it by the end of November? And that led me on a film spree where I averaged about a movie per day, so let’s get the heck into … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: November 2021 Part 2
WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (1988): Written by: Gary K. Wolf (original novel), Jeffery Price & Peter S. Seaman This movie is considered, along with The Little Mermaid, as having helped kick off the Renaissance Age of Animation. Based off of a novel called Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, they changed a lot of the plot and surroundings (the author admits this was a good idea, and the movie version … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
It’s funny; I swear I’ve been saying for years that I want my DC movies to feel more like the MCU. What the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest offering, Eternals, gives us instead is an MCU movie that feels like it would have been more at home in the recent DC filmography. Which is to say that I was not a particularly big fan of this … Continue reading Eternals Review
One hundred and sixty nine. That’s how many movies I’m up to for 2021. That puts me needing 31 more between November and December to hit that lofty goal of 200 that I set for myself. Well… I say it’s lofty, but then other folks tell me they are shooting for 300 or 400 or whatever. But hey! You know, it’s… actually, I have no … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: October 2021 Part 2
*NOTE: The middle section of this article will contain spoilers, and I’ll delineate where they start and end!* Is there any Halloween movie more divisive than the 2018 outing that reset the franchise to another timeline–its FIFTH if you count the Rob Zombie and Halloween 3 portions of the multiverse!–and started a new Michael Myers trilogy? When it comes to discussing the Halloween movies, there … Continue reading Halloween Kills Review
Guys, my house is a wreck. We have started decorating for Halloween and getting everything spookified, but the interior of the house constantly looks like a bomb went off. We are not an organized people. This isn’t even related to the decorations; it’s just the constant state of our home! We always have these designs on “Oh, we’ll do a little cleaning each weekend, and … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: October 2021
OLIVER AND COMPANY (1988): Written by: Charles Dickens (original story), Vance Gerry, Roger Allers, Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise, Dave Michener, Pete Young & Mike Gabriel This one is odd, comparing it to the rest of the Disney Animated franchise. I mean, “Take a famous story and make them animals” has been done, and “people in modern times” had been done, but the fact that this is … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Rescuers Down Under & Oliver and Company
I feel like this will be a very short discussion this portion of the month, as I could probably just plug in “I played Fallout 4, like, A LOT” and be done with it. Why did I not play more of that game way back when I bought it? MOVIES After a movie-heavy start to the month, I really tapered off in the back half … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: September 2021, part 2
Last month, I lamented that I had only seen ten movies in the span of an entire month. I went on a September TEAR to make up for that! So let’s get straight into the first half of September’s recommendations. MOVIES Seventeen days, twelve movies. That’s more like it. I kind of blew up in the last few days of August, man. And those ratings … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: September 2021
THE LITTLE MERMAID (1989): Written by: Hans Christian Andersen (original story), Roger Allers, Howard Ashman, Ron Clements & John Musker And now we come to the TRUE game-changer at the studio- the movie that started The Disney Renaissance, and helped define a decade. Coming out in the late 1980s after a series of “scratchy outline” movies and weaker faire, this Fairy Tale-based story had some work … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: The Little Mermaid
Here’s the thing. I usually break down my movie reviews into three sections: Non-Spoiler intro / Spoiler story section / Non-spoiler wrap-up. There is virtually no way possible I can talk about this movie without at least mild spoilers. I just wouldn’t have very much to say! So here’s your advance warning: This ENTIRE ARTICLE is a SPOILER WARNING! Yeah, look at that trailer! Man, … Continue reading Malignant Review
I was improperly raised on horror movies as a child, as I have detailed before. In addition to the semi-regular Jason-based nightmares that are just ingrained in my DNA at this point, it has given me a lifelong love of the genre. Horror cinema just combines some of the best parts of every other field of film-making; they can be funny and mysterious and tense and … Continue reading Top Ten: Horror Films of the 2010’s
