PINOCCHIO (1940): Written by: Carlo Collodi (original serial), Aurelius Battaglia, William Cottrell, Otto Englander, Erdman Penner, Joseph Sabo, Ted Sears & Webb Smith Pinocchio was the second Disney film produced, and now one of the most iconic, though like most of the post-Snow White canon, it initially failed at the box office due to World War II, and only made its money back through the “every seven years” … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Pinocchio
When it comes to ranking the 10 scariest movie monsters the challenge is separating themonsters from the humans. Because, while tons of humans behave monstrously or becomesupernatural monsters by magic or sheer will, they are/were nonetheless human.I believe it’s cheating to put some seriously scary human characters like Michael Meyers(Halloween) or Jason Voorhees in this category because while they are excellent movie villains, they don’t quite … Continue reading Book Of Lies’ Top Ten Horror Movie Monsters!
I have had a long love/hate relationship with horror movies. I have written on my previous site in some depth about my history with horror flicks, and I will be revisiting those articles from the archive soon enough (as in: HERE’S the first one). The abbreviated backstory is this: I was RAISED on awful 80’s slashers. When I was [single-digits] years old, my mom, dad, … Continue reading Top Ten: Horror Movie Monsters/Villains
I am always very excited to do a Friday the 13th article. And then, it turns out… I don’t really have that much to say about Friday the 13th. I am not a freemason in the dark ages, it seems (Right? That’s where Friday the 13th as a relevant thing comes from, right? Something to do with freemasons and a murder conspiracy or something? Or … Continue reading Thirteen The Fridayth
Before we get too far into this, let’s review the impetus for my watching The Exorcist for the first time ever (YES, I know, right!? More on that in a minute): This fantastic piece of work was made by the same man who gave SWO Productions all of our banners and icons, the incomparable Manster of Pint O’ Comics! Check him out on Twitter and … Continue reading Movie Reviews: The Exorcist
As we inch closer to ending this hellscape that is 2020, we also grow ever nearer to the long-awaiting release of Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League. And news just keeps on breaking about it on our way there. There are two stories of which I was recently made aware. The first is that Jared Leto will now be in the Snyder Cut, reprising … Continue reading Snyder Cut News And Thoughts!
Jojo Rabbit looked so damn risky when I first started seeing trailers for it. I mean, let’s be honest: World War II was eighty years ago. EIGHTY YEARS! That is by no mean insubstantial. World War II was as close to the Civil War as it is to the current day. Many of us won’t live to see an eightieth birthday; World War II was … Continue reading Movie Review: Jojo Rabbit
I mentioned recently that I really wanted to see Parasite, but knew little about it going in. I thought it was for the best that I keep it that way and try to see the movie as soon as possible to see what all the buzz was about. I’m glad I did. Bong Joon-Ho’s 2019 movie about class and desperation is a lot of different things at … Continue reading Movie Reviews: Parasite
Back on 12/15/2019, I finally got around to seeing Rian Johnson’s modern update on the throwback whodunnit mystery genre, Knives Out. It’s not the kind of movie you see very often these days, and one whose heyday seems to have long-since passed. It stars Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, a world-renowned detective brought into a seemingly open-and-shut case of suicide and finding out that not everything … Continue reading Movie Review: Knives Out
Let’s preface this right away: I did not care for Hereditary much. I know a lot of folks did. I have seen that people really seemed to dig Ari Aster’s debut feature length horror film about Toni Collette acting bonkers and heralded it as their Film of 2018, and that’s absolutely fine. It clearly wasn’t for me, but I see what others could have enjoyed about … Continue reading Movie Review: Midsommar
I have precious little patience for movies in my own home. I assume it’s my Millenial-adled mind that sees far too many distractions and can’t allow me to sit still long enough to pay that much attention, but I’m just really bad at it. Oddly, the more people that are involved, the better I get (by myself? I NEVER watch movies at home? Just me … Continue reading I Love The Cinema!
Nippy13 draws the BEST Disney Characters! SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (1937): Written by: Dorothy Ann Blank, Richard Reedon, Merrill De Maris, Otto Englander, Dick Rickard, Earl Hurd, Ted Sears & Webb Smith This is pretty much the single-most influential animated film of all time, being the first full-length animated feature EVER. Hell, this was the first time anyone had tried to animate full-scale realistic … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Snow White
WALT DISNEY PICTURES: I wasn’t always a huge Disney fan- in fact, for a bunch of my teen years, I’d had the typical “Disney is LAME, yo!” reaction of a spiteful teen, but had a growing fandom since then, after revisiting many of the older pictures of my youth. I’d yet visited Disneyland as an adult (I’d only gone as a teen), and hadn’t seen … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Walt Disney Pictures
