I’m wrestling with whether or not to get PlayStation Now. I feel like… I’m already paying for PS Plus, which is its own $60/month thing. Do I really need Now? It looks like a bulk of the games on Now end up becoming Plus giveaways as it is. But then… Fallout New Vegas is on Now, and I really kind of want to replay that. … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: July 2021
I must have watched The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult about a hundred times as a kid. The third entry in the Naked Gun trilogy came out when I was thirteen years old, so it was obviously pretty much targeted directly at me. Juvenile jokes and Anna Nicole Smith in lingerie; what more could a kid want? I’m relatively sure I’d never even … Continue reading Classic Movie Review: The Naked Gun
Sure, maybe this isn’t thematic for November, BUT it dawned on me that we are nearing not just the end of the year, but the end of the DECADE! The 2010’s are rapidly leaving us, and who knows what the 2020’s have in mind? Depending on whether you say “Twenty-twenties” or “Two-thousand-twenties”, they may bring us 100% more Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs! Am… am … Continue reading Top Ten: Non-Comic Book Movies of the 2010’s
My wife wants us to paint our bathroom. I sometimes worry that she has forgotten who she married. There is nothing in the world I would rather do than nothing. Every so often she has grand designs on some project or another. She’ll ask “Do you want to [do a thing I don’t want to do] today?” as if she doesn’t know the answer. (The … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: June 2021 part 2
I went to the movies for the first time since February 2020 today! God, I have really missed that. Obviously in the COVID era, I have developed quite the affinity for watching movies at home, but I have always adored the cinema. Watching movies at home is fine, if a bit distracting. Watching them in the movie theater always feels more like an experience. The … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: June 2021

Welcome back to Entertainment Rex, your twice monthly article series where I let you know what fun is out there to be had. Twice monthly is a good schedule. It’s my favorite way to schedule. Podcasts? Twice a month. Entertainment Rex? Twice a month? Stew’s Reviews? Twice a month! Everything is two times per month. It’s very symmetrical that way. I don’t really have an … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: May 2021
It’s May 5th as I write this, and I have only watched ONE movie for the month of May so far. What the hell? I’m really falling off of my pace. I guess that is to be expected; since I have been vaccinated and the weather is turning, the world is opening back up to me. And I have a lot more to do on … Continue reading Classic Movie Review: An American Werewolf In London
If there’s one thing the MCU is undeniably good for, it’s making me think “Boy, I hope I don’t die before _____”. For years, it was “Boy, I hope I don’t die before we resolve all this Thanos stuff in the MCU!”. And I didn’t! It was great. But I also had nothing left to look forward to except a pandemic. Well today, Kevin Feige, … Continue reading Ranking My Excitement On The New MCU Trailer

Welcome to the end of April! I hope you guys are ready for all of those May flowers! For more from April, click HERE. That’s actually not fair. It hasn’t rained much here at all. Due to our sewage issues, we recently had a chunk of our back yard dug up. We put down some grass seed, but I’ve been having to water it pretty … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: April 2021 part 2
Marvel gifted us with a trailer for Shang-Chi this week in what appears to have been a surprise release given the lead actor, Simu Liu’s, frankly adorable reaction on Twitter. It’s admittedly a pretty rad trailer. I had not been too stoked for a Shang Chi movie for a few reasons. First of all, he’s a character I have barely any comics experience with. Secondly, … Continue reading Classic Review: The Big Sick
This month’s draft was… NOT my forte. But I gave it the old college try anyway! When I got together with this month’s guests–Pint O Comics, So Wizard, and Flicks X-Rayed–to discuss our next draft, we ultimately settled on Best Movie Soundtracks. Music remains not really my best genre. But I do like movies, and I know which ones kind of make me bop along, … Continue reading SWO Draft: Best Movie Soundtracks!
There is 100% something to be said for a movie that tells you right in the title exactly what it is going to do. Freddy Vs Jason, for instance! It’s not a great movie by any stretch, but it delivers on everything it promises. What more could you ask for? It literally has multiple extended sequences of Freddy Kreuger dueling with Jason Voorhees. There is … Continue reading Godzilla vs Kong Review
I mentioned back on the Ides of March that I had a very slow cinematic start to the month. Boy did I rectify that in the back half of the month! I went on an absolute spree to finish out March (like a… lion? Is that right yet?), catching thirteen movies in a fourteen day span, with a few different days of two flicks alone! … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: March 2021, part 2
