It’s the Ides of March! I don’t… I don’t know what that means. Something to do with Julius Caesar being assassinated, but it isn’t called that BECAUSE of it. The Ides were a thing before he died. It’s like… if I was assassinated on Christmas, Christmas wouldn’t be famous for THAT. (That got dark fast this article…) Wasn’t he warned, “beware the Ides of March”? … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: March 2021
February sure is a short month. It feels like I just did part one of this. Nevertheless, we are moving full-bore into MARCH, the month that has something to do with lions and lambs; I could never keep it straight. Does it come in like a lion (fierce) and out like a lamb (soft?), or does it come in like a lamb (white and fluffy) … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: February Part 2
My back is not yet 100%, but it’s miles ahead of where it was at this point in January. It turns out that I have a mutant healing factor! OR I was being a hypochondriac. But probably the healing factor. That seems more likely. Anyway: it’s Valentine’s Day! Happy Valentine’s Day to lovers, young and old. I know, I know. Valentine’s Day is a commercial … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: February Part 1
I think this is the bad guy. Now we come to the final disc of the set, and the last five episodes of Sailor Moon R- Chibi-Usa, the annoying brat who’s FINALLY been revealed as the daughter of Sailor Moon & Tuxedo Mask from the future… has been kidnapped by the Black Moon Clan, and Wiseman’s final plan comes to fruition. Now, it’s very clear … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon R (85-89)
Depending on how you look at it, I got a lot more done in the back half of January than I did in the front end. By that, I mean that I watched a lot more movies per day and played a lot more video games. I read a bunch of comics, too. Well… a bunch of issues of one title. But did I do … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: January Part 2
“The Head” is a short-lived series from MTV, created for their indie-animation showcase “Liquid Television” (where “Beavis & Butt-head” & “AEon Flux” also came from)- it’s the tale of a freakishly-deformed trade-school student who is charged with halting an alien invasion by the alien that lives in his head. It lasted a couple years in 1995 and 1996, and is primarily a set of shorts … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: The Head
Welcome to our newest feature here at SWO Productions: Entertainment Rex! Twice a month, I will look back on what I’ve read, watched, and experienced and let you know if it can be recommended or not (is that… semi-monthly? Bi-monthly is every other month, right? What means “twice a month”? Semi… Bi-sometimesly? Anyone have any help here?). I’ll be honest with you… mostly I am … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: January
I don’t watch a lot of TV. There’s no real reason for it. I used to watch a lot of the ol’ boob tube. But I just never have the nerve to sit down and consume television these days. I think the advent of streaming content has had a negative effect on me. My wife watches approximately every show that airs on every channel, but … Continue reading TV Review: Recent Comic Book Properties on TV
Supernatural ended this past week. I thought the series finale was about as good as the show was ever likely to have–and between this and the recent finale to The Good Place, I am happy to see shows I love getting proper send-offs. I wasn’t able to watch the ending as it aired, but I did watch it immediately after work on Friday with the … Continue reading Supernatural: A Retrospective
Bold statement: Few people have ever loved anything the way Teenage Me loved Sailor Moon. I LOVED this show when I was in High School. In a time when it was massively uncool for a boy to watch a “show for girls”, I was like openly talking about this to several of my male friends at the time. I remember seeing snippets of it at … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon 1-11
