What timing! I saw Free Guy the same day as the Thor: Ragnarok episode of my podcast was released! It’s TaikaMania running wild, brother! Every so often I fall harmlessly but accidentally into kismet. For just the fourth time since COVID started (wait… fourth? Let me check. The Conjuring, this, Black Widow, A Quiet Place 2… yep, fourth) I went to the cinema, and it … Continue reading Free Guy Review

I’m not crazy, okay? Just… don’t forget that as we go on here. I mean, I’m nuts for Jason Movies, but that’s allowable, right? They are good-to-great movies! Well… okay-to-great. All right, they are sucky-to-great. I know, I know. Jason Goes To Hell still exists. More on that one later, though, because it’s about to be my Exception-That-Proves-The-Rule movie. (I have actually always hated that … Continue reading Thirteen The Fridayth: Multiple Jasons Theory!
Suicide Squad is an R-rated movie. And don’t worry, because the movie sure as fuck wants you to know it. Unlike the Zack Snyder’s Reheated Justice League Movie from earlier in this year which was seemingly given an R-rating by the skin of its teeth in an attempt to feel edgier than it should have been (THE JOKER MAKES A HANDJOB JOKE TO BATMAN, GUYS!), … Continue reading Suicide Squad 2021 Review

This one’s going to be quick, so bear with me. I’m SUPPOSED to be packing for Cancun right now. By the time you read this, I’ll at least be in the air. It’s hard to believe SWO Productions is already coming up on ten months’ of existence! Ten months so far of articles and podcasts and just general futzing around. Wow. Will I do something … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: July part 2
THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE (1986) Written by: Eve Titus (original books), Vance Gerry, Peter Young, Steve Ulett, John Musker & Ron Clements The whole concept behind this one is a bit odd, and it’s based off of some children’s book I’ve never heard of- basically mouse versions of Sherlock Holmes & Watson, and a rat Moriarty. And Basil lives right below Sherlock himself. God bless Public … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: The Great Mouse Detective
No commercial more instantly turned me off to the idea of watching a television series than the infamous “Fuck Batman” ad that gave us our first look at Titans on the DCUniverse streaming service. When that was my introduction to the series, it was easy enough to write it off as “not for me”, and we even bashed it on older episodes of our show. To be … Continue reading Teen Titans Season One Review
Sailor Saturn- The terrifying “Senshi of Destruction”, with the power to destroy the entire world. And now we’ve reached the finale of Sailor Moon S! The story- Hotaru Tomoe has been transformed into the evil Mistress 9 by her father, Professor Tomoe. The Mistress calls forth her master, the faceless Pharaoh 90, who shall now enact “The Silence”- the end of everything. So… Armageddon. Sailor … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon S (124-127)

I’m wrestling with whether or not to get PlayStation Now. I feel like… I’m already paying for PS Plus, which is its own $60/month thing. Do I really need Now? It looks like a bulk of the games on Now end up becoming Plus giveaways as it is. But then… Fallout New Vegas is on Now, and I really kind of want to replay that. … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: July 2021
THE BLACK CAULDRON (1985): Written by: Lloyd Alexander (Original Book Series), Ted Berman, Vance Gerry, Joe Hale, David Jonas, Roy Morita, Richard Rich, Art Stevens, Al Wilson & Peter Young This is a controversial one for many reasons. It basically Disney-fies a semi-popular children’s novel (The Chronicles of Prydain, which noted Webcomic author Randy Milholland of Something Positive fame REALLY enjoys- he’s said some great stuff about it), … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: The Black Cauldron
I must have watched The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult about a hundred times as a kid. The third entry in the Naked Gun trilogy came out when I was thirteen years old, so it was obviously pretty much targeted directly at me. Juvenile jokes and Anna Nicole Smith in lingerie; what more could a kid want? I’m relatively sure I’d never even … Continue reading Classic Movie Review: The Naked Gun
Mistress 9- the Messiah of Silence. And we’re back with the penultimate set of episodes for Sailor Moon S! When we last left off, there was a ton of stuff revealed- our villain is called Pharaoh 90, and is an unseen otherwordly force. His primary agent speaks through innocent young Hotaru Tomoe, and her father, the mind-controlled Professor, creates monsters as part of the “Death Busters” … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon S (121-124)
Sure, maybe this isn’t thematic for November, BUT it dawned on me that we are nearing not just the end of the year, but the end of the DECADE! The 2010’s are rapidly leaving us, and who knows what the 2020’s have in mind? Depending on whether you say “Twenty-twenties” or “Two-thousand-twenties”, they may bring us 100% more Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs! Am… am … Continue reading Top Ten: Non-Comic Book Movies of the 2010’s
