And we’re back with more! This one features two regular episodes, and one strange longer version. Pictured: Hawk’s Eye, the pursuer of sexy older women. Figures the Sailor Moon character most like me would look like this. EPISODE #130: In a rather infamous one, the MILF-hunting Hawk’s Eye chooses a target- USAGI’S MOM!!! “In the name of my dad, I’ll punish you!”, lol. Usagi blows … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon SuperS (130-131)
Mothers and their children share a special something something. Hey, I don’t know what to tell you; my own mom was the dirt fucking worst. All kinds of abusive and really just the absolute pits. She died a long time ago, though, so it’s fine. I won. But what are you, my therapist? This isn’t what you are here for! You’re here for the Top Ten … Continue reading Top Ten: Fictional Mothers

Last month, I lamented that I had only seen ten movies in the span of an entire month. I went on a September TEAR to make up for that! So let’s get straight into the first half of September’s recommendations. MOVIES Seventeen days, twelve movies. That’s more like it. I kind of blew up in the last few days of August, man. And those ratings … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: September 2021
THE LITTLE MERMAID (1989): Written by: Hans Christian Andersen (original story), Roger Allers, Howard Ashman, Ron Clements & John Musker And now we come to the TRUE game-changer at the studio- the movie that started The Disney Renaissance, and helped define a decade. Coming out in the late 1980s after a series of “scratchy outline” movies and weaker faire, this Fairy Tale-based story had some work … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: The Little Mermaid
Here’s the thing. I usually break down my movie reviews into three sections: Non-Spoiler intro / Spoiler story section / Non-spoiler wrap-up. There is virtually no way possible I can talk about this movie without at least mild spoilers. I just wouldn’t have very much to say! So here’s your advance warning: This ENTIRE ARTICLE is a SPOILER WARNING! Yeah, look at that trailer! Man, … Continue reading Malignant Review
I was improperly raised on horror movies as a child, as I have detailed before. In addition to the semi-regular Jason-based nightmares that are just ingrained in my DNA at this point, it has given me a lifelong love of the genre. Horror cinema just combines some of the best parts of every other field of film-making; they can be funny and mysterious and tense and … Continue reading Top Ten: Horror Films of the 2010’s
The Bad Welcome back to our two part Agents of SHIELD retrospective. If you missed part 1 (and why would you read the second part before the first), I went over some of the things I loved about the series. As you probably figured out, I’ll be talking about the worst aspects of the series in this part, which will likely earn a lot of … Continue reading Agents of SHIELD Retrospect – Part 2
SAILOR MOON SUPERS: Typically called Super S in the West by my recollection, it’s actually called SuperS, but most of the online Sailor Moonfandom had never seen it at the time (the mid-90s). This whole season has a very palpable sense of “… so, I came up with their past, their future, then added the Sailors for the missing Planets… well SHIT. NOW what do I do?” So Naoko … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon SuperS (128-129)
Okay. Okay, okay. I am more calm than I was when I wrote that review *checks clock* 15 minutes ago. Let’s look at this more rationally and critically. Guys, this movie is truly amazing. Just… I’m still floored. I want to turn around and go watch it again. Okay, it turns out I am really bad at objectivity. I am also saying “Okay” a LOT. … Continue reading Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings Review

Wait, don’t I usually do two of these in a month? I do; this is usually split up into first half / back half so it doesn’t get too wordy. But August was a pretty slow month in many regards, so by the time mid-August appeared and I had done very little, I figured I’d just package the whole thing together for the end of … Continue reading Entertainment Rex: August 2021
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991): Written by: Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve (original story), Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont (adaptation novel that heavily influenced this), Linda Woolverton, Brenda Chapman, Burny Mattinson, Brian Pimental, Joe Ranft, Kelly Asbury, Chris Sanders, Kevin Harkey, Bruce Woodside, Tom Ellery, Robert Lence & Roger Allers The Disney Animated Canon features some spectacular works of art, and many excel at various things that … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Beauty and The Beast
The Good Stuff In August of 2020, the Marvel TV show Agents of SHIELD aired its 136th and final episode after seven seasons with little fanfare. While TV shows come and go and seven seasons is quite an achievement, this particular show is very interesting. I still remember seeing a trailer for the pilot episode in a movie theater, I remember #ItsAllConnected being slapped on … Continue reading Agents of SHIELD Retrospect – Part 1
SAILOR MOON R- THE MOVIE:Yes, they made three movies for the Sailor Moon franchise. The animation is of course glorious compared to anything you’d see in the cartoon, with bodies having both shading AND highlights, and the frame-rate going up a bit, too, with lots of glamorous shots and better posing than the “straight-on” stuff from a more mundane TV episode. The three middle seasons, Sailor Moon R, S and SuperS, … Continue reading Jab’s Reviews: Sailor Moon R – The Movie
