We’ve done the best Threequels! We’ve done the best Part 4’s in franchises! You know what’s next, right? No, not Part 5’s. Don’t be absurd. That was honestly where I was going to go, but JESUS CHRIST that would be near impossible to make even halfway entertaining. There would, what, 3 quality movies? MAYBE? So I decided to throw everything left all into the pot … Continue reading Best Part 5+ In A Franchise
To include independent comics in this list or not; that was the question. The problem that I ran into is that so many independent comics–Saga, Hellboy, Fables, Monstress, Strangers In Paradise, Spawn, and so many more–are so inextricably linked to their supporting cast that the idea of a “main character” in those books can get lost in the shuffle. Sure the BPRD are a support … Continue reading Top Ten Supporting Casts In Comics
ALEX’S TOP FIVE With respect to our host’s, and my Contrarian Compadre’s, lists, I went in a bit of a different direction. In preparing for this, I realized the truest way I could do it would be by providing the blockbusters that meant the most to me. The ones I lived through. So, my list will only consist of those I went to the theater … Continue reading Top Ten: Summer Blockbusters (by THE CONTRARIANS!)
Oh man did I call this one. Previously, when I ranked the best Part Three’s in movie franchises, I noted that when I started putting together the list, I was SHOCKED by how many of them were great. I ended up leaving off several high quality movies because there was such a dearth of winners when movies hit their third entry. So I wondered… if … Continue reading Top Ten: Best Part 4’s In A Franchise
We’re back, as I INCREDIBLY RELUCTANTLY list the worst Pokémon of each generation. (At least the first six generations) ((We’ll see from there)) What is the basis for a determining a “worst” Pokémon? It’s easy and scientific! I look at a list of all Pokémon created in each new region, and then I think to myself “Oh, I didn’t like that one for reasons”. And … Continue reading The Bottom Five: Worst Generation 2 Pokemon
When I thought of doing this list, it seemed like it would be… exactly as hard as it ended up being. But for the opposite reason as the one that ended up proving true. I figured there would be about five really strong contenders, and then I’d be filling out the list with two-star flicks I enjoy in a more guilty manner. I couldn’t have … Continue reading Top Ten Parts 3 In A Franchise
This was something that was suggested to me back when I did my Top Ten Pokemon of each [of the first six] generation[s]. (I like brackets) I was makin decisions on which Pokemon I loved from those Gens; why not go through and find the ones I had no particular affection for? There are so many Pokemon to LOVE; aren’t there an equal amount to … Continue reading The Bottom 5: Worst Generation 1 Pokemon
There’s no level of talking down enough that I can do to lower your expectations far enough that when you see my list, you will think, “Well, it’s not THAT bad”. It’s going to be very, very bad. There’s no disagreement. We are in this together! Here is where I have to be honest with you: I am neither a liar nor a panderer. When … Continue reading Top Ten: Academy Award Best Picture Winners

I, uh… I already broke my own system. See, I’m writing this on December 30th, and I’ve had the article and the Letterboxd images up for a day or so thinking “Well, surely I won’t watch any more 2021 new releases by the first!”. And then I watched Encanto today. Whoops! But no matter; it would be on this end of the list anyway (as … Continue reading 2021 New Releases [I Saw], Ranked! Part 2!
I watched over 200 movies in the year 2021, easily and happily meeting the goal I had set for myself. I am… not going to rank every movie I saw this year. That would be really hard. And by that I mean, I might get bored and do it eventually because I am lame and have literally NO NEW YEAR’S EVE PLANS. So what else … Continue reading 2021 New Releases [I Saw], Ranked! (Part 1)
I could have seen sub-dividing this topic out even further after I had gotten started. With September being upon us, and the ninth month of the year typically being when new seasons of television start, I decided it would be a good time to do our long-awaited Top Ten Television Show Theme Songs list. (Now, granted, in the era of reality shows that all seem … Continue reading Top Ten: TV Theme Songs
In a lot of forms of media, the antagonists are every bit as gripping–if not more so!–than the heroes themselves. Look no further than professional wrestling. A lot of wrestling stories are centered around a babyface’s trials and tribulations against the heels that seek to destroy him. But so often, it’s the heels who really shine. Whether that’s because they get to let a bit … Continue reading Top Ten: Favorite Comic Villains
I want to start this off with a shout-out to SWO Productions for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this great challenge (don’t forget to vote for this as the best of these four Top 10 lists, because it will be). My name is Kalvin and you can find me weekly on The Magic Number Is 3. Now that we’ve got the plugs and … Continue reading Top Ten: TV Theme Songs (By THE MAGIC NUMBER IS 3!)
I regretted this… almost instantly. This was, you see, supposed to be a list of ten. My ten favorite comic book artists. Easy peasy. I’m going to do a follow up on writers, sure, but I figured I would start with the men and women who bring the writers’ ideas to life. And all I had to do was pick ten who were my favorites. … Continue reading Top TWENTY: Favorite Comic Artists
