Chapter 3: Ten Years Ago… The line for entrance into L was so far down the street that Brayden Van Pelt couldn’t quite see where it ended anymore. Not that it mattered to him; most of the wannabes in line for the opening night of Miami’s newest hot spot were never going to get anywhere near inside. They could stand out there all night in … Continue reading The Chosen: Chapter 3
1954… Reginald Hawkwood stood in his garage, a punching bag hanging from the rafters. His son Hank stood before him with boxing gloves that were slightly too large for him. Reginald nudged Hank’s feet with the tip of his shoe, “Widen your stance a bit,” he told his young son, “And mind your breathing. Now, go.” Hank began throwing quick punches into the bag. “Excellent,” … Continue reading AP Productions: Cavalier #3
Phew, what a hard hitting film this is! Showing the everyday struggles of any lower middle class family living in today’s world. We meet the father who is landing what sounds like a dream job being a delivery driver. The boss makes it sound like he’ll be his own sort of private contractor (where in reality, he’s working for the delivery company and gets pushed … Continue reading Sorry We Missed You review
I wasted far too many of my years as a comic book fan complaining that Superman was “boring” or “vanilla”. It honestly wouldn’t be until within the last ten years or so that I would start appreciating who Clark Kent is as a character and look to abandon the whole notion that he was boring because he is too powerful. Superman’s powerset isn’t the defining … Continue reading Top Ten: Superman Stories
ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE (2001):Written by: Tab Murphy, Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise, Joss Whedon, Bryce Zabel & Jackie Zabel -This is an interesting one. Atlantis came comes on the tail end of the Renaissance (ie. well after it ended, but only by a couple years), so the hype was less extreme, the expectations were lowered, and the money was gonna be less. Even so, they did some REALLY … Continue reading Jab’s Disney Reviews: Atlantis The Lost Empire

Comic book sales! Wait, is something a “sale” if it happens every day? Or is that just a discount? How does that… what is the difference? Whatever, I’m going to call it a sale. My favorite local shop runs a perpetual sale where if you buy at least 50 back issue comics, you get 50% the total price. I’ve always been enticed by the idea, … Continue reading Stew’s Reviews: Curse Of The Mutants
Well, I liked X. X was Ti West’s attempt at a 70’s style horror movie that came out earlier this year, mostly starring Mia Goth in a dual role, but also featuring Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, and others. The story of a gathering of young folks out to make a classy porno flick, but finding themselves in a horrific situation, was engaging throughout and had … Continue reading Pearl Review
I try very hard to not do things pointlessly. I just have too much to do lately. Writing some fiction. Writing articles. Podcasting. And that’s all on top of, you know, BEING AN ADULT and having a job and a wife and things to do. My days are very full, and there is constantly one thing or another I’m “meant” to be doing, even if … Continue reading Current Obsession: Dead By Daylight
Fifty! See, this is why I number these things; so I can feel irrationally proud of myself for hitting arbitrary milestones. But yep, I have been at this for 50 volumes so far. Hopefully you have enjoyed most of them as much as I have enjoyed reading them. I do get a kick out of this series; I have reread some books I love, and … Continue reading Stew’s Reviews: Generation X by Scott Lobdell
Sometimes I get the privilege of reviewing smaller books that you need to know about, which is one of the cooler parts of what I do. Sure, you want reviews of stories in the history of Superman and Spider-Man and the X-Men, but you already know those characters and what you think of them. So I’m always a bit happy when I get a chance … Continue reading Stew’s Reviews: Pocus Hocus
I’ve been sitting on this idea for SO LONG! You see, SEVERAL YEARS AGO, when I was doing my previous podcast, my then-cohost and I were asked to guest star on another podcast for their Pod V Pod challenge. Those challenges had two quiz rounds, followed up by a draft challenge. The draft for that episode was Best Non-Disney/Pixar Animated Movies. I had a blast … Continue reading Top Ten Non-Disney Animated Movies
I’m supposed to make a witty Stranger Things pop culture reference here, aren’t I? Like… “Oh, an Eggo flavored Pop-Tart! That’s one of the Stranger Things I’ll see today! I bet the flavor is turned up to Eleven!” (Actually, that… that was good. I should have just led off with that after all) Anyway, the reason I was reluctant to do so initially is because … Continue reading Pop-Tart Quest: Eggo Flavor!
Marty from Pods Like Us is here with the very odd choice of a somewhat forgotten TMNT movie: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Turtles In Time. That’s right! It was more than just the name of an arcade game!
